How do you care for oily skin? Tips from Ph.Doctor
Oily skin (seborrhoea) is a common concern that plenty of people deal with. It develops when the sebaceous glands produce too much sebum, leaving the skin shiny and greasy-looking. It often has a greyish or yellow-grey tone to it, along with blackheads.
The undeniable upside of oily skin is that it starts to age relatively late and is less prone to irritation than dry skin. That said, oily skin needs a careful approach — the key is striking a balance between gentle cleansing and regulating sebum production.
Our tips for caring for oily skin:
Gentle facial cleansing emulsion by Ph.Doctor
Wash your face and neck twice a day for at least a minute. In the evening, remove your make-up with your favourite remover first, then follow with our cleansing emulsion.
Tetra C Serum by Ph.Doctor
Apply one drop morning and evening, straight after washing your face.
Lipid facial cream by Ph.Doctor
Apply once the Ph.Doctor serum has absorbed.
And don't forget your sun protection!
In the morning, apply an SPF 50 UVA/UVB cream — non-negotiable for oily skin. Go for lightweight textures and watch out for high alcohol content.
If you're dealing with enlarged pores and excess sebum, we recommend adding a retinoid to your evening routine: FACE & BODY RetinALL 0.05%.
If you're new to retinoids, here's the schedule we recommend:
weeks 1–2: twice a week
weeks 3–5: three times a week
weeks 6–9: four times a week
then five times a week for five weeks
👉 What is retinal and who is it for?
Once your skin has built up tolerance to retinal (usually after two to three months), you can add the Lactic acid 12% Face and body peeling to your evening routine, alternating it with your retinoid.
Never use retinoids on the same day as the acid. Apply it once or twice a week to washed, dried skin, following this schedule:
week 1: 5 minutes
week 2: 10 minutes
week 3: 15 minutes (maximum)
